October 2011 Day Trip

Been longing for some nice dim sum, not some cheapskate BS thing that some coffee shop sells. It's kinda hard to find nice ones nowadays. I really like the one they serve at Newcom Club in Old Klang Road.

Love their egg tarts. Not too sweet and flavourful.

Glutinous Rice Steamed in Bamboo.

Fresh prawn in the Har Kau. Fluffy Char Siew Bao..

Actual Wu Kok with actual yam taste...

Siew Mai minus the horrible pork taste and smell. Fresh pork!

My favourite among the dim sum dish. Steamed pork ribs..

Lunch in Malacca. Some famous Taiwan style beef noodle. They have a choice of pork and beef. Hmm..not the type I like. The noodles were too soggy.

Buying durian puffs in the Jonker Street.

They called it one bite durian puff and you are supposed to finish it in one mouthful. I think by the time I managed to stuff it into my mouth, the durian will spurt everywhere.

Not really a fan of popiah but judging by the crowd and the amount of time that you have to wait

here, this is not something to be missed. Had to wait for at least 20 minutes!

The moment of truth: I will definitely come back for more! The popiah skin was very soft and fresh. The filling was bursting with some aromatic taste of pork lard.

The Famous Mille Crepe@Nadeje with It's Famous Rude Staff

Someone told me about the layered cake in Malacca, so I thought nothing fancy.Until we reached the Nadeje Patisserie, well it's Mille Crepe!Looks nice on the outside.

What is Mille Crepe actually? It's a French cake made of many crêpe layers. "Mille" ("mil") means "a thousand", implying the many layers of crêpe.

Usually it's made by layering around 20 layers of crepe with a combination of fresh cream and vanilla custard in between each layer. Then the topmost layer will be caramelized to give it a smoky sugary flavour.

Back to Nadeje:
The villain in disguise approached us as we were looking at the cakes. There were 4 of us of course we need to calculate how many pieces altogether that we want. This villain named Michael immeadiately showed his true color. From a forced smile to a blurdie 'muka masam', like we owed him money. Then he ignored us and chat to his colleague ,taking his own sweet time to even acknowledge us. His blurdie attitude was already making my blood boiling.

He got our orders wrong and when I tried to correct him. He yelled at me "You go pay!We know what to do!" .He knows how to be rude and yell at his clients la, that I confirmed he know.If not for the recommendations from others, I will leave right there and then. The cashier also got things wrong. Not even an apology from them. What kind of f*ucked up people are they? They were forced to work there or what? If damn unhappy, just leave the place. Go sleep by the roadside and beg for food,no need to work.Don't vent your frustration on the clients.

Their Mille Crepe was really nice but when I think of the incident, I rather not eat again. Luckily I found this website HumbleBeginning.I heard it is run by some guy that left before the downfall of Nadeje Patisserie.

Read about it here:

Almost a week has past but I still feel dissatisfied. So what I did was posted my comment on their Facebook page. No response then I sent them an email. Take a look...

How they want to mend this? I was already being yelled at.Use the cake to shut my mouth? Bribe me with free food? Complimentary...whatever..I don't want!I don't want to eat spit!RM9 is a bit expensive but I still can afford it. I don't need anyone to buy for me. These free stuff mean nothing for me. Last time Starbuckss offered me free drinks coz his staff offended me,I never accept. Same goes with Nadeje Patisserie.

Back To My Root

The chinese root in me...raised as a Chinese

Antiques. How many individuals had touched them? Wished I knew the stories that come along with them..

Skeleton in the closet?

My highlights gave the illusion of bald spot.Scared the merde out of me.I kept checking in the mirror afterwards.

I was told that these coins will bring luck and prosperity..

We will never come across anyone wearing this again except as a costume.Who was the person who wore this?

The Nyonya root in me..bleeding the Nyonya blood that no one can deny (I know someone out there that wanted to do so)

Again,no camera allowed inside. These were the best I could managed.

The house is owned by a very wealthy family that opened up their house as a museum.

The paper lantern displayed the identity of the family.

We were guided by a not so friendly-to-us-coz-we-are-locals guide named Sabrina. You can't miss her. She was the one with 2 huge armpit sweat stains(I smelled sweat, blek!))Walked through the courtyard, the rooms, the staircase. It was an indescribable feeling going through those part of the house.I love the courtyard,in future no matter how small my house will be,I want to have a courtyard just like that.

Property tax was based on the width of the building’s street-frontage during Dutch era that is why these houses are narrow.

Every piece of furniture were painstakingly made and they are so beautiful. This place made me wanna go back in time.Wish I was born 100 years earlier...

Look at the door panel,it is a work of art

Bird Nest Information Centre

No camera allowed in this place but I managed to sneaked a few..Hehe..
It was a guided short tour. They showed us the swiftlet house and let us smell swiftlet sh*t. Amost puked. Then this idiot guide asked if we ever had bird nest before.Don't know if he's really that dumb or he said it on purpose.Pauvre naze...we don't come out from the jungle la.

Picking swiftlets feathers. I hate this process, took me hours and so boring. I wondered what's in that lady's mind as she sat there picking feather the entire day. Will she dreamt of feathers at night when she sleeps?

Baby Elise's favourite!

The guide told us that we were not supposed to boil bird nest for hours.Just 15 minutes will do.

End of tour,at the rooftop.

They gave us some lousy chocolate drinks to sample afterwards.Huh? Chocolate and bird nests related? Then this Pauvre naze guide kept telling us they were free of charge as if we got no money.Feel like pushing him down from the rooftop as a way of saying thanks for showing us around.

The Sausage That Resemblance A Penis

The famous Satay Celup in Lorong Bukit Cina. The place was so packed.Had to wait for a while.Learned about this place from a Singaporean Tv show.Look at the wall.

This was what we picked from the open fridge. Didn't finish them though.Notice that I circled one of the food item. Surprise coming up afterwards.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the boss.Didn't capture his face. I don't really know what's happening as he kept scooping the powder mix/spices whatever into the pot. What I observed was 2 scoops at other tables. Ours ,more than 6 scoops. Maybe that's how it affected the taste. Too heavy for my liking. Tasted like burnt gravy.

Maybe it was also the enviroment that affected the whole thing. There was heavy techno music pounding next door. Made my head spinning. Then it was so blurdie hot and the sticks was covered with the gravy. My fingers were covered with all the stuff.

Now, for the surprise. Remembered that I circled the sausage? When it was cooked and covered with the gravy ,it looked like a penis. My brain registered it too late,it was working slower than my mouth. IDK why I shrieked after I took a bite. That really put me off.I was staring at it afterwards for quite some time until the girls convinced me that it was just a sausage. Forgot to take a picture of it for memory keepsake.

Hungry Ghost Festival in Jonker Street

Coincidentally ,it was the 1st day of the Hungry Ghost Festival. It's when the hell's door is open and all the other worldly spirits roams the earth. We can see the entire street was left with some burnt and food offerings.Tried to be careful not to step on any of those.

Walking along, this place feels very authentic chinese feel. Never had this kind of feelings before. But I don't dare to snap picture of them making the offerings. Don't want to capture any unwanted image on my camera.I admit, I'm a SCAREDY CAT...if the fear of ghost creeps upon me,I'll get plenty of sleepless night.

The Jonker Street is like a pasar malam. They sell all sorts of snacks and souvenirs as well.

Fried Durian Balls and Rolls. It was Sunday and it was a good day to eat durian.Hehe...

Bamboos are a very auspicious plants. Hope I can get them for my house. This background is a very suitable scene for Green Snake Spirit movie...with all those green lights..

Merde!Someone criticized that I looked very TERUK in this picture. If it's that the case, why your camera never explode?DUH...

We saw a caucasian lady picked some hell money from the ground on our way back. For souvenir perhaps. I just had to tell her the purpose of the piece of paper in her hands. Luckily she put it back where it belongs. I hope I did a good deed for her.

It's BREAK Time!

Been anticipated for a long overdued holiday. Whatever ,whoever and wherever, I don't care,I just wanna have a break. Didn't even actually plan much. So along with 3other girls,we pack our bags afterwork on Sunday and off we go to Malacca.Woohoo...(Not exactly my dream vacation la but at least it's a break)

Almost 2 hours drive and we reached Malacca.Super hungry by now (stomach growling).I need to eat!The GPS navigated us to the Portuguese settlement.Headed straight to get the famous mango juice. Not those yellow and sweet mango but it was green and sourish mango with preserved plum powder. My first time having this. One word, WONDERFUL.

Going for Portuguese food next!

It was a dilemma at deciding which stall to go for seafood. One said she know which one while we were still in KL then said she don't know the place's name and don't know which one.WTF!! Then the other one called the boyfriend and after she told us it's the first stall.Suddenly the first one said that one no good.Once again ,WTF! Isn't it a bit disrespectful and rude? Finally we settled for the No:6 stall. Once again the indecisive problem crept up.SAID-YOU-BEEN-THERE-AND-IT-WAS-NICE-AND-YOU-DON'T-BLURDIE-KNOW-WHAT-TO-ORDER??!! Merde !

Finally,I ordered a Portuguese style otak otak.Good one. You won't want to eat those MERDE otak otak at pasar malam ever again. Those taste like some piece of shit that dropped on the groud, picked up and wrapped to sell to you.Should call them Otak Otak flavoured piece of rubbish.Means I ate quick a lot of rubbish during my 30 years of existence. This, you can taste the fish and those aromatic spices. Normally I won't touch those cucumber but this time I had them with the gravy.I thought I wanna lick the foil afterwards...Very nice la.

Butter garlic scallops taste good too. Helps to balance the hotness of other spicy dishes.I like my food hot and spicy but not the rest of the girls. Very difficult to really enjoy food with people who can't stand spicy food.Pity me you know? I ate spicy food almost every meal my whole life!

The one in the bowl was the Dabel Curry .Sounds like Devil Curry huh?I thought so but it was not.The waitress said it was D-A-B-E-L. I tasted a hint of ginger in it. Not spicy at all and a bit sweet. Doesn't suit my tastebud coz had to accomodate other non spicy eater. She said we can go ahead and order spicy dishes but of course being polite I can't bring myself to do that. Next time I want it to be SPICY!

When this Grilled Eggplant arrived, I thought there should be a sauce accompanying it but there wasn't any. My first time having it.First bite was beyond my expectation. Seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled (Later I realised that a client of mine,Lucy told me before about this dish). Old age is affecting my memory..Sigh. Stupid me,ask for sauce somemore.

Lastly was the Salt baked Crab. I saw this one some local TV show. You supposed to taste the sweetness of the crab if it's fresh but we couldn't taste any. Salt Baked Crap was more like it.

I used to love the seaside. Dinner ,supper, daydreaming at the beach. I used to loved to listen to the sound of the wave but I don't know why it seemed so scary this time at Malacca. Too much of Tsunami news perhaps. A scroll at the seaside after dinner was perfect but the moment I go near it,my heart almost popped out of my chest.Had to leave immediately. We left for the hotel afterward.
