Singapore Fried Prawn Noodle

I heard a lot of bad review about this dish but I refused to make any judgement until I give it a try myself.

I actually think this dish is quite good. It's a totally different dish from the Hokkien Noodle. At least you can clearly see what you are eating because it isn't loaded with black sauce (I hated it when I was in my teens as I thought it will give me dark scars during my horrible acne loaded phase).

Just had to pretend that I don't see them scopping the noodles from the wok using a small pail like the one we used to flush the toilet....

True Blue? Won't Go Back Ever

The man standing at the reception threw us some dirty look as if we can't afford their food when we stepped into True Blue. Very bad impression.

Were seated by a receptionist and this man came over with a 360 degree change. He couldn't find anything more appropriate to say that awkward compliment of my nephew plain looking Tshirt. I think he's the manager or partner or whatever.

Weird tasting longan drinks..

Ngoh Heang...just plain ordinary ngoh heang.

Watery Ayam Ponteh...

Pucuk Ubi and Pineapple Prawn.

Horrible Keluak Otak Otak. I had to wash the prawn with Pineapple Prawn's gravy to get rid of the foul taste of the buah keluak. Don't mean to offend anyone here but I never tasted Buah Keluak that tasted like this.

Crayfish, I had no idea how to describe this.

Desserts, not really a sweet ending. The Onde-Onde served in a pair and the Tapioca thing in a trio. I think most of the places serve them in trio not a pair like this place.WTF?!

The verdict: Bad service, watery gravy, weird texture and foul smelling food. Nothing to shout about here. Shouldn't have rushed here from Sentosa. Might as well remain there to have KFC.

Fun At Asia's Favourite Playground

Part go-cart, part toboggan...we've been wanting to try it out since we arrived. There's so many things to do and we had so little time. It rained a lot too.

In line for the luge.

Having full control of the Luge, we navigated down 688 metre of the Dragon Trail cruising slowly and speeding up as we like.

After the Luge, we boarded the Skyride. We had to hop on as it never really stop. Miscalculated and my butt landed right on top of a strip of wood. Right at my butt crack. OH MY LORD! It was so painful and the pain dragged for weeks. I thought I might have hurt my spine.

Should be enjoying the nice view below, but my butt pained so much and I was afraid of the height. Afraid of the cable gave way and dropped us. I know I was being neurotic but I couldn't help it. Pain and worries overwhelmed the beautiful scenery below us.

Off to ride the Segway afterwards....
Gliding effortlessly around on the eco friendly Segway. You just have to lean forward to move forward and stand up straight to stop.

At first, I thought it would very hard to master this device because I don't have the faith in myself. Jacky Chan made looked so simple but you know all his stunts on the big screen looked damn simple too.

The Temptation Of The High Society

High society record label was founded by That CD Shop since 2006 and is deemed as the jewel of the recording industry as it is the only record company in the world that is being endorsed by all the four major recording labels Sony Bmg, Universal music, Warner and EMI. It is also the only record company in the world that is able to have all the four major labels being involved in a single project. Not only they serve great music but great desserts too.

The cozy ambience of this place is very inviting. This modern restaurant that exudes an old world charm, complete with delectable menu and distinguished services and mad out of this world desserts.

Sinfully beautiful cupcakes, tempting rich chocolate cakes, mad luring tiramisus...this is crazy!

It took me a super human strength to be able to resist taking home every single different piece of them. If only fatness is only a myth, I would gladly eat all of them without a single trace of guilt in my system.
Some consolation prizes...

The verdict? I want to move to Singapore and stay next to High Society so that I could have the wonderful desserts anytime.

Time to seriously lose a lot of weight in order to put them back on again for my next visit. This time, I'm going to try at least 20 variety of them.

A Chance To Get Close To The Wild Animals

It was a bit drizzling but that didn't deter us from visiting the Night Safari. Bought a lot of mosquitoes repellent patches as a preparation.

Can't wait to get inside the tram. A very rare chance for getting close to the wild animals.

The tram took us from the Himalayan foothills to wild Equitorial Africa with live commentary. Wild animals such as tigers were separated by a huge drain while the tamer animals such as the tapirs are allowed to roamed freely. Saw them eating just next to the tram. I would be able to touch them if I reach out my hands.

Certain areas were so dark that sometimes I wondered if I was looking at some tree log or wild animals. At the back of my mind, images of some wild animals escape and lunges at us in the tram and eat us alive playing until a loud growl from a tiger nearby interupted my crazy imagination. That sounded so near...

Recent counts showed there are 600–800 Malayan tigers in the wild, making it the most common tiger subspecies other than the Bengal and perhaps also the Indochinese tigers. It is nevertheless an endangered subspecies.

Separated just by a piece of glass. I never been so near a tiger before. Too bad it's sound asleep and ignored us.

One of the few visible picture that I managed to captured. They don't allow flash camera in case it disturb the animals.

Pink Flamingos. They are so beautiful.
Never really pay attention to the pig species exist out there until now. Babirusa, Red River Hog and so much more. I can only remember the main character of the Babe movie. Pigs are very cute, how I wish that I could keep them as pets. I can give up having ham and bacon and eat Chick Kut Teh instead.

After the tram ride over, we walked around the many trails that they have. Tried to sneak a few pictures with the flash on and unfortunately I was caught red handed. Thank God they didn't kick me out.

We arrived at this cave where all of a sudden some bats flew on top of us. Scared the living sh*t out of me.

At the Z-Bar sitting on the zebra...LOL

See, it won't bite...

Hey! Let me go!

Singapore's Famous Teochew Bak Kut Teh

I've been missing this Teochew style Bak Kut Teh ever since I first had it as a kid. It's distintive taste differenciate it from the Bak Kut Teh that we usually had here. Where most of my friends and family prefer the latter, I really loved the former. Sis brought us to Ng Ah Sio Pork Rib Eating House for this famous Singaporean dish.

This famous pork rib soup restaurant made headlines after it turned down Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang’s request to dine after its opening hours. Thaksin Shinawatra, the ex-Prime Minister of Thailand, also made his way here for lunch in 2007.

As one of the pioneers of this now-famous dish, Mr Ng Siak Hai’s(Nickname: Ng Ah Sio’s) father – Mr Ng Mui Song, began plying the pork-based, peppery herbal soup cooked in a distinct Teochew style in the 1950s at he current River Valley and Hill Street vicinity. These early servings of the Bak Kut Teh was accompanied by Chinese doughnuts (You Tiao) and a strong brew of Chinese tea and there was no chilli and soya sauce dips. One of the common beliefs of the origins of Bak Kut Teh is rooted in the early days of the Republic’s founding where large numbers of young men migrated from China to works as coolies at the godowns by the historic Singapore River. As their jobs involved much physical hardship and their meagre salaries could ill-afford the luxury of meat then, they used the bones of pork to brew their soups as a form of nourishment.

It is said that the Teochew labourers came up with the original version of Bak Kut Teh and their legendary stamina and strength after taking it soon led to other groups of Chinese coolies making the same with variations in the types of herbs added.

Other dishes served here include pig kidney soup, pigtail soup, preserved vegetable with garlic, and stewed pork trotters.

The Famous Swan Lake

We got our hands on the tickets at last. Spent the entire night trying to figure out the passwords that the site required us to key in and I thought Premier Advantage means HSBC credit card. These were the best seats that we could get. No more choice as it was the last show. Anyway, I can finally watch The Swan Lake!

The synopsis taken from their official website

Act One

It is the day before Prince Siegfried’s 21st birthday, and the Prince and his friend Benno are having an impromptu party in the Palace courtyard. The Queen arrives and tells Prince Siegfried that he must choose his future wife, marry and inherit the Kingdom. The Queen informs her son that she has organised a Grand Ball to be held in the Palace tomorrow evening to celebrate his birthday, and that he must choose his future bride from the invited female guests.

Count Von Rothbart is an evil sorcerer who is half-man, half-bird. He lives in human form amongst the mortals of the Palace and acts as a mentor to the youthful Prince. Rothbart has made a promise to his daughter Odile that he will secure the hand of the Prince in marriage to her.
Amidst the impromptu party, Rothbart introduces the Prince to Odile. His eye is caught by her striking beauty, but although Odile dances like no other girl at the party, she fails to impress the Prince, who feels ill at ease in her company.
Prince Siegfried becomes tired of the proceedings and protests to the Queen that he is unhappy at being forced to choose a bride and asks to be excused from the party. The Queen is upset at her son’s distress and asks his loyal companion Benno to takehim hunting to ease his troubles. She hands Prince Siegfried the family ring and tells him that he must place it upon the finger of his true love.
The young group set off for the woods to go hunting, although Benno can see that the Prince is troubled. Benno takes Prince Siegfried to the enchanted lake, where the Prince asks to be left alone to contemplate his future and the decision that lies before him.

The hunting party sees a flock of swans fly overhead and moves towards them as they land. The Swan Princess, Odette, assumes human form and attempts to protect her swans from the hunting party. Prince Siegfried arrives and is mesmerised by her delicate beauty and moves towards her. As the Prince’s eyes meet Odette’s, he sees inside her the love he has been searching for. She in turn sees that her fate to live as part human, part swan may be changed forever by the love of the Prince. His lovemay break her cursed existence.
The other swans join Odette and dance for the Prince, who confesses his love to Odette and begs that she attend the Grand Ball at the Palace the following evening, where he will introduce her to the Queen as his future bride. Odette tells of the curse placed upon her, which may only be broken by the true love of a faithful man, who may not confess his love to another woman. The Prince places the family ring upon a chain and places it around the neck of Odette, telling her that the ring may rest upon her finger if she will join him at the Ball, and promises his undying love. Odette agrees to attend the Ball. As dawn breaks Prince Siegfried leaves Odette to return to the Palace.
The events of the night have been viewed by Rothbart, who moves towards Odette as the Prince departs. Odette, afraid of the evil Rothbart, moves back in shock. Rothbart grabs the ring from her neck as she flees.

Act Two

The court is celebrating the 21st birthday of Prince Siegfried at a Grand Ball at the Palace. The Prince sits with the Queen, who is accompanied by Rothbart.
Benno introduces the Princesses who arrive from Italy, Spain, Hungary, Russia and Ireland. The visiting Princesses are all keen to win Prince Siegfried’s hand in marriage, but he awaits the arrival of just one person. As the evening progresses, the Prince becomes disappointed at the failure of Odette to appear.
The court is then surprised by the arrival of Odile, dressed not in her usual dark clothes, but in those of eminent beauty. Her appearance takes the Prince’s breath away and he moves to the floor to dance with Odile. The Prince is intoxicated by her beauty and forgets Odette as he dances with Odile. Odette then arrives at the Palace just as the Prince declares his love to Odile. Rothbart produces the Prince’s family ring from his jacket pocket. Prince Siegfried places the ring on the finger of Odile, thereby dooming Odette to live her life forever as a swan. As he does this, he sees Odette crying and fleeing from the Palace, and realises his terrible mistake. Odile and Rothbart are jubilant, whilst Benno consoles the distraught Prince.
Odette is deeply upset at her betrayal by the Prince , but more so by the interferance of Rothbart in her life. Odette decides to confront Rothbart and seeks to understand the reasons behind his evil treatment of her.

At the enchanted lake, the swans (in human form) console a heartbroken Odette. Prince Siegfried arrives and asks forgiveness for his folly. Odette embraces the Prince, and tells him that she will love him forever, although her curse may never be broken. Odile arrives at the lake in search of Prince Siegfried and sees the love he has for Odette, and Odette for the Prince.
Odile listens to their story and understands that her father, Rothbart, has played an evil trick, and refuses to be part of her father’s terrible plan. Odile hands the ring back to Odette. Prince Siegfried now realises that he was stupidly tricked by the evil Rothbart and his own faint heart.
Arrogantly, Rothbart challenges Prince Siegfried to a duel, telling the Prince that if he has the courage to kill him, he may release Odette from her curse.
This show of true love by Prince Siegfried and the death of Rothbart, release Odette from her curse, so that she can live in human form with her beloved Prince.

A wish fulfilled, hoping to watch Phantom Of The Opera next...

Sandsational Outing

The luxurious integrated resort.

The SkyPark topped the building towers. They have dress code here but I don't think some people really adhere to it.

Woman Aflame is one of Dali's most famous sculptures. He mixed different symbols together and creates improbable combinations: Drawers coming out from a woman's body suddenly set on fire. His art is a blurred boundaries between reality and dream.

Winning of the evening, but it wasn't mine. I never have the gambler's luck.

The Rain Oculus at the middle of the canal. It looks like a big bowl of swirling water. The water falling from 2 storeys high creating a strong impact. Closing my eyes and enjoying the sound of the water flow. Feels like sitting next to the waterfall. I really love the sound of water. Sound of rain during the morning, sound of the sea wave at the beach, water flowing in the water fountain.....very soothing indeed.

Inside Polo Ralph Lauren, Sis and me couldn't stop admiring the outfit on this mannequin. She loves it but she said she need to lose some weight to wear this and me? I need to lose a lot of weight and grow taller by 10 inches before I could get into it.

Supper at the lobby.
Deep Fried Cheese Stick with Basil Tomato Dip and Samosa (the pastry was a bit thick for my liking)

Mini Burger that wasn't mini at all..

Will work hard to achieve my target...
